Ein Wald der Skulpturen - Sammlung Simon Spierer
In Kooperation mit dem Hessischen Landesmuseum Darmstadt
Der von dem Genfer Kunstsammler Simon Spierer konzipierte „Wald der Skulpturen“ umfasst Werke von herausragenden internationalen Bildhauern des 20. Jahrhunderts, wie Constantin Brancusi, Alberto Giacometti, Henry Moore, Lucio Fontana, Louise Bourgeois oder Barbara Hepworth. Eine Konzentration auf Stele und Torso ist formal und motivisch ablesbar.

Andy Goldsworthy: Working with time
Andy Goldsworthy modelliert vergängliche Kunstwerke in der Natur. Neben den eigentlichen Formen der Natur gilt sein besonderes Interesse den in der Natur vorkommenden Materialien: Schnee, Eis und Sand, Steine, Wurzeln, Äste, Zweige, Blätter, Dornen oder Blüten. Seine mitunter nur wenige Stunden existierenden, sehr fragilen Kunstwerke werden von dem britischen Künstler mittels Fotografien dokumentiert.

A Forest of Sculptures – the Simon Spierer Collection

Conceived by Geneva-based art collector Simon Spierer, the “ Forest of Sculptures ” comprises works by outstanding international 20 th century sculptors, such as Constantin Brancusi, Alberto Giacometti, Henry Moore, Lucio Fontana, Louise Bourgeois and Barbara Hepworth. There is a discernible concentration on steles and torsos.

Andy Goldsworthy: Working with time
British artist Andy Goldsworthy creates transient artworks in nature. Alongside the actual shapes nature offers, he is especially interested in materials he finds in nature: snow, ice and sand, stones, roots, branches, twigs, leaves, thorns and blossoms. His very fragile artworks sometimes only survive for a few hours, but he always documents them by photograph.

Für die Entwicklung der Kunst des letzten Jahrzehnts war das Werk von Francisco de Goya (1746-1828) auffallend prägend. Verschiedenste Gegenwartskünstler haben sich mit dem spanischen Maler beschäftigt. Grotesk-karnevaleske Körperwelten lassen sich in Werken der Zeitgenossen erkennen, ohne dass Vorlagen explizit benannt werden.

Goya's Heirs
The oeuvre of Francisco de Goya (1746-1828) had a very strong influence on art of the last decade. A wide variety of contemporary artists have concerned themselves with the Spanish painter. Grotesque and Carnevalesque corporeal worlds are to be discerned in contemporary works, without the role models ever being explicitly cited.
